Your task: It is Columbus Day, October 12th, and you are a news anchor on the ABC Nightly News. The big story for this evening is the history of Christopher Columbus: You have to tell people all over the country what he did and maybe even what he didn't do!! It can't take longer than four minutes to read as you have lots of other news to report. Consider the following questions as you plan your broadcast:
Steps you will be following: In order to plan and create your newscast, you will do all of the following:
1) Click on the article link to Christopher Columbus, Explorer sailing for Spain (here and on the resources page) and read the information. As you read, take dash notes, looking for specific information to include in your broadcast. Consider the questions in the task as you take your notes.
2) Look at the Christopher Columbus slide show on the resources page. Use the information from this slide show to add to your notes. You may listen to the music while you watch this show and take notes.
3) Organize your information, plan, perhaps develop a graphic organizer with specific information.
4) Once you have your information organized, write your newscast. There is a sample of how you might begin on the resources page.
