Your task: You are a reporter for the Philadelphia Times . The date is July 4th, and you have been asked to write an article about what caused the colonists to declare themselves free and fight against England for their independence (freedom). Be sure to include the acts that made them so angry and led to The Declaration of Independence.

- Read the two pages about the causes of the American Revolution on the resources page, and take notes.
- Watch the schooltube video (click on those words) about the Declaration of Independence and take notes.
- Using a graphic organizer (a web, a three-column chart, or one of your own choice) plan and organize the infomration that you will include in your newspaper article.
- Write your article. Be sure to read it out loud to yourself or a friend before you write your final draft. This will help you know how you might want to revise and/or edit it.
