Topic of your Task: My word(s)!!.
Time Frame: 2 days
Essential Question: How can we compare the five Native American Groups in the New World?
SC Social Studies Standards: 4.1.2
Compare the everyday life, physical environment, and culture of the major Native American groups, including the Eastern Woodlands, the Plains, the Southwest, the Great Basin, and the Pacific Northwest.
CCR Standards: Reading Anchor Standards 1 & 9, Writing Anchor Standards 1, 4, 6 & 8
Your task: You have been asked, by Mr. Clark, to create a poster that shows what your and your fellow students have learned about the major Native American groups. This poster will be used as a display for PTO parents "Back-to-School" night. You decide to make a wordle because you know it's really fun to make and the parents will be able to see/read all of the most important information quickly and easily. Mr. Clark thinks this is a great idea and can't wait to see it!!
Steps you will be following: In order to plan and create your wordle, you will do all of the following:
1) Click on the video link (here and on the resources page) and listen to the information. As you listen, take dash notes, looking for specific words to include in your wordle. Remember: Dash notes and wordle only use the most important terms!! You can use the grpahic organizer to help you organize the information. It is on the resources page, or your teacher may give you a copy to use.
2) Look at the Native American chart on the resources page (or click on the highlighted word chart). Use the information on this chart to add to your notes about the 5 groups.
3) Organize your information, plan, and list all of the words that you want to use for each group.
4) This is a link to the wordle website. It is also on the resources page. Once you get to that page, click on "create" and begin putting in your words, one group per wordle. When you are finished with the words for each group, click go and your teacher and I will help you save and print each one.
4) You will want to refer to your notes while creating your wordle. You can refer to the chart and re-watch the video as often as you need to.
